A St. George Catholic School 8th grader and a St. Mary’s Catholic School 8th grader are this year’s grand prize winners in Vitae Foundation’s Essay Contest on Life Issues.  Sophia Carr, Mt. Sterling, an 8th grader at St. George Catholic School in Linn, claimed the top grand prize and threw out a ceremonial first pitch before the start of the July 29 St. Louis Cardinals game.  It was also Osage County Night at the Ballpark, which over 550 people participated.  Second place winner Caleb Laughlin of Chamois, an 8th grader at St. Mary’s Catholic School, visited the broadcast booth and met long-time Cardinals broadcaster Mike Shannon.
