Vitae on BBB 2010 Charity Seal List
By Martha Schieber
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.—Under the headline, “Start with Trust,” the Vitae Foundation was one of a select few national organizations listed in a USA Today full-page ad as receiving the “seal” for the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Assistance Standards for Charity Accountability. It is only one of 266 nationwide participants in the Seal program. The ad first appeared in the April 13 edition of the most read newspaper in the country.
Organizations that comply with these accountability standards have provided documentation that they meet basic standards: In how they govern their organization; in the ways they spend their money; in the truthfulness of their representations; and, in their willingness to disclose basic information to the public.
The BBB Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity Accountability were developed to assist donors in making sound giving decisions and to foster public confidence in charitable organizations. The standards seek to encourage fair and honest solicitation practices, to promote ethical conduct by charitable organizations and to advance support of philanthropy.
Vitae is very proud to receive this recognition by the Better Business Bureau.
“By meeting the BBB’s Wise Giving Assistance Standard’s for Charity Accountability, individuals who give to Vitae can be assured that their donations are used wisely and in a manner that supports Vitae’s goals,” Carl Landwehr, President of Vitae Foundation, stated. “As a national organization which uses media campaigns to reach women facing unplanned pregnancies, we’ve worked diligently to foster a culture of life and have saved countless unborn babies and their mothers since 1992.”
