Women Sharing Their Stories

Pregnancy Help Centers across the country have shared stories of girls on the brink of abortion who are coming to their centers after seeing a Vitae ad.  Because of Vitae ads, lives are being saved!  These are true stories of women who chose life for their babies.

 

Los Angeles  Another clinic had confirmed her pregnancy, and when she came to us she was definitely abortion-minded.  She was 19 years old, single and had no relationship with the baby’s father.  In fact, she didn’t want to have his baby, and her family supported that decision.  She saw the Vitae ad in El Clasificado which led her to our center. After talking with one of our counselors and choosing to watch the “Dura Realidad” video, she was deeply touched and wanted to learn more about abortion risks and procedures.  Once she knew all her options, she chose life for her unborn baby!

El Clasificado Client testimonies (2012) 

Cristina was shocked to get a positive result on her pregnancy test because she was using an IUD contraceptive device. She and her husband came in to LAPS with the intention to ask for an abortion if she was pregnant.  After our counselor spoke with them, they realized that their baby was developed and more than that, that their baby was a special gift from God.   They chose life and their precious baby Allen was born in February 2012. “For me, El Clasificado changed my life because I had intended to abort my baby, but because I saw the ad I came in to LAPS where they gave me good counseling and advice to think things over more clearly. Today I am so happy  with my children and my newborn baby. I am grateful to LAPS because they were there when I most needed them.   And thanks to the ad that I found in El Clasificado. I hope that many other people just like me will also see the ad because it changed my life and filled it with happiness.”
 

Flor’s husband was pressuring her to abort her unborn child so she came to LAPS seeking answers.  She was relieved to know the truth about what abortion does and that she would receive our support.  Her heart was telling her all along that abortion was not the right choice!  She joyfully received her baby as did her husband. She has been receiving material as well as spiritual assistance from us.  (She is pictured with her baby, Vicky, who is holding the rosary we gave them.  “I am so happy with my baby. When I saw your ad I knew that someone would help me.  Thank you LAPS for guiding me to make the right decision.”   (We have attached a photo of Flor with her baby holding a rosary, and also one of Flor and her daughter at a recent baby shower hosted by the Pauline Sisters. She shared her story of how El Clasificado saved her baby.)

Linda was 17 years old when she realized she might be pregnant. Opening up the El Clasificado magazine and seeing our ad made her realize there was a place she could turn to for answers.  She came to LAPS with her mom who was abortion-minded. After learning the truth about abortion and the consequences she might face, Linda began to change her mind.  Eventually her mother came around as well to support her.  “I am grateful for LAPS and that I saw your ad that day. I am a teenager so I didn’t have a lot of information. Your program let me see that there is hope and help.  I am happy that I had my baby. His name is Jason.”

Wendy was a single woman, 25 who had made some poor choices in life and now found herself alone and pregnant. “I saw the ad in El Clasificado and knew I could go to LAPS for answers and help.  At first I thought about having an abortion because I did not know that I had another option.”  Poverty was the biggest obstacle and source of fear leading Wendy to abortion.  Once the LAPS counselor offered her help and hope Wendy was willing to take a second look at giving life to her baby.  Baby Andrea was born last November.  “ I am so grateful and so happy. Andrea is a blessing and a great joy to me and her siblings.

 

New York  While riding in the New York subway system, a woman saw one of Vitae’s Call-for-Help posters.  Not yet 35 years old, she had already had 14 abortions and worried she may be pregnant again.   After calling one of the helpline phone numbers listed on that ad, she came to the Pregnancy Resource Center in Brooklyn where her pregnancy was confirmed.  Once again her intent was to abort her child, but a wonderful thing happened.  While looking at the ultrasound image of her little boy, she saw him move his hands.  In fact, the baby actually raised his hand, causing the woman to begin crying.  She has now decided to keep her baby, and the director of the pregnancy center in Brooklyn will help her find the assistance she needs to persevere in her good intentions.

Boston  After taking a home pregnancy test that tested positive, all I wanted was a way out!  I was ready to leave my husband who I had known since our teen years.  I started searching the Internet for a center I used to visit as a teenager, but I could not remember the name.  For some reason an ad (placed by Vitae) kept popping up for A Woman’s Concern, therefore I thought this had to be the place I used to go to.  I told the counselor that I wanted to know how far along I was so that I could terminate the pregnancy if I was less than four weeks along.  During our conversation, I began to realize that I needed to start being honest – with myself and with my counselor.  My eyes and my hurt began to clear as we continued to talk, but I still had to know how far along in the pregnancy I was.  So to the ultrasound room we went.  My heart was heavy as we heard the heartbeat.  I was just about six weeks along, and it was at this point that the sonographer was able to calculate an approximate due date, which happened to fall on my wedding anniversary.  For our Heavenly Father to be speaking so loudly to me… (Eight months later, Jennifer and her husband had the joy of welcoming their third child, a baby girl, into the world.)
