Doug Callahan

Doug Callahan brings three decades of non-profit fundraising and development experience to the Vitae Foundation.  Doug retired from the Boy Scouts of America in 2019 as the Scout Executive of the Great Rivers Council of central and northeast Missouri after a 37-year career.

In addition to becoming an Eagle Scout and serving as the Scoutmaster of the Boy Scout troop he grew up in, Callahan’s most noteworthy accomplishments in Scouting are quite stellar.  He led the St. Louis Council to its first $1 million annual fundraising campaign.  He raised $2.5 million to transform Camp Hahn, the Lake of the Ozarks Boy Scout camp into a regionally recognized destination camp that attracts Scouts from across the Midwest and South.  He also started an annual Eagle Scout recognition program in the state Capitol for the all the Eagle Scouts in the state of Missouri.  That program has helped the Great Rivers Council locally produce more than 100 Eagle Scouts for 19 years in a row.

A St. Louis native, Doug graduated from Our Lady of Sorrows Grade School in 1973 and St. Louis University High School in 1977.  He earned a BSBA degree in Accounting from Georgetown University in 1980.

Doug has been and continues to be highly dedicated to community organizations and his church.  He is a member of Rotary.  He has also been a member of both the Columbia and Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce for 20 years and served 3 years as a Board member and Treasurer of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

A 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Columbia, Mo., Doug serves as a treasurer for the Knights of Columbus Council 1529.

Doug has served 12 plus years on the Parish Council at Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Columbia, where he also serves as a Eucharistic Minister.

Doug and his wife Susan have two grown children, Sean Callahan and Megan Fisher.  He enjoys golf, biking, college and professional sports.
