Taking care of babies was her job, and she was great at it!
Jennifer worked as an infant teacher at her local daycare. Her love for children was always strong. When she found out she was pregnant though, she wasn’t sure if she was ready.
Her boyfriend wasn’t so sure either. They wanted a future together, but financially it just didn’t seem feasible to bring a child into the world and be able to accomplish their dreams as a couple.
Due to Vitae Foundation, a Google search led her to Parkville Women’s Clinic, where Jennifer was seeking abortion pills to end the pregnancy.
When Jennifer met with the patient advocate, she shared her diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which could prevent her from having children in the future. For Jennifer, that made the decision much more difficult.
The patient advocate reflected on what happened next: “During the sonogram we invited her boyfriend in and after I told him the baby’s heart rate was ninety-six beats per minute, he appeared to be in shock. He couldn‘t believe there was already a heartbeat!”
The couple agreed to return in one week. When they did, both Jennifer and her boyfriend wholeheartedly stated they had chosen life.
Update from Parkville Women’s Clinic: “Even though they believed their current circumstances were not the best, with the support, care, and listening that our staff was able to provide, they are now the proud parents of a beautiful baby!”
