As we ring in the New Year, we welcome some good news concerning the abortion industry.  Operation Rescue is reporting a total of 45 abortion facilities closed or halting abortions nationwide in 2020.  The report indicated that Missouri no longer has an active abortion facility, making it the first Abortion-Free State.

While true, Reproductive Health Services of Planned Parenthood in St. Louis remains open.  Abortion appointments, however, are currently being referred to the Fairview Heights Planned Parenthood facility across the Mississippi River in Illinois.

“We are thrilled to have made an impact on the St. Louis facility, causing fewer women to make appointments there by leading them to life-affirming Pregnancy Help Centers (PHCs) in the area,” Vitae President Debbie Stokes stated.  “Watch for our January newsletter, as it reveals specifically the success we’ve had with ThriVe St. Louis, sending them around 300 abortion-determined women a month who otherwise would have darkened the door of Planned Parenthood.”

Texas will also defund Planned Parenthood beginning February 3.

Unfortunately, abortion facilities closing doesn’t necessarily equate to fewer abortions.  With the opening of mega abortion facilities and growing access to online abortion pills, there continues to be a pall over this country as lives are lost to abortion.

For the first time, a U.S.-based pharmacy is distributing abortion pills directly to patients within the country by mail, now legal because of a 2020 federal court ruling.  The pharmacy, Honeybee Health, is a California-based, accredited, online pharmacy that sells generic medications without the need for insurance.

“It is more important than ever for women to be given the truth,” Stokes stated.  “Vitae will continue to share its research—its pro-woman approach using best practices to communicate with the abortion-determined woman.  Only then will we truly create a culture that believes women deserve better than abortion.”

Consider a gift today to help Vitae with its mission of sharing its research and reaching women before the abortion industry and helping them find lifesaving PHCs across the country.
